\u201cMinoan\u201d is the name given to the prehistoric civilization which developed on Crete, an island with a strategic location in the eastern Mediterranean. In the board game \u201cThe Ring of Minos\u201d players try to win the king’s favor and to be elevated to the title of \u201cprince\u201d. In order to do so, they need to be the first to find and collect the gold rings and other power symbols of the king, which were stolen from his treasury by priests in contravention to their oaths and are hidden in the most remote caves and hilltop sanctuaries of Crete.<\/p>\n
After carefully setting up their guards, players need to make their way through the rooms of the labyrinthine palace, in order to deliver them to the great king! The route is long and full of surprises. No player should believe that he\/she has won or lost! Everything will be determined by the last throw of the dice! An adventure full of twists and turns which will bring you into contact with the first great European civilization and make you want to learn more!<\/p>\n
The box features an image of the reconstructed west wing of the palace of Knossos, an illustration by the late archaeologist Nikolaos Platonos, excavator of the palace at Kato Zakros, one of the four Minoan palaces (Knossos, Phaistos, Zakros and Mallia). It is used with permission.<\/p>\n
Part of the game scenario takes place in the rooms of the largest Minoan palace, Knossos. of which a precise ground plan is featured on the game board. The game also references the most important place names and archaeological find spots, as well as several masterpieces of Minoan civilization.<\/p>\n
The box contains a pamphlet with a short history of Minoan civilization and information on some of the works of art featured in the game.<\/p>\n
